The Digestive and Absorptive Test Following Massive Small Bowel Resection in a Women

Abstract
|
|
|
A 37 year old female whose massive small bowel resection was done except from the Tritz´s ligament to the ileocecal junction, 60cm in length, was readmitted for the digestive and absorptive test on 40 days after operation.
The results are as follows:
1) The body weight was decreased to 40kg from 46kg on 40 days after operation.
2) The barium meal was reached to the transverse colon in 30 minutes after ingestion.
3) The blood level was increased to 3 mg% at 30 minutes and 16 mg% at I hour after intake of 100 gm of glucose more than fasting blood sugar level.
4) The absorptive rate of the carbohydrate was 80.62% at 24 hours and 82.66% at 48 hours.
5) The absorptive rate of the protein was 63.98% at 24 hours and 72.24% at 48 hours.
6) The absorptive rate of the fat was 25.65% at 24 hours and 45.34% at 48 hours.
